Run by the Funaro family—siblings Clemente, Tiziana, and Giacomo—the estate spans nearly 85 hectares dedicated to indigenous Sicilian grape varieties and olive groves. Certified organic since 2011, Funaro combines traditional Sicilian agricultural wisdom with modern eco-friendly practices, powered by solar energy and minimal environmental impact. In the cellar, they prioritize natural fermentations, gentle extractions, and minimal sulfur additions to produce clean, authentic wines that showcase the distinct soil and sun of Trapani.

The Wine
Funaro's Nero d'Avola is a classic, expressive, and fruit-forward interpretation of Sicily’s hallmark red grape. Sourced from organically farmed vineyards planted on limestone and clay-rich soils, the hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to retain pure varietal fruit character and aromatic freshness. Bottled with minimal intervention and low sulfur, the 2025 vintage delivers vibrant layers of black cherry, juicy plum, and subtle Sicilian herbs, balanced by fine-grained tannins and a crisp, food-friendly acidity.
