🍷 Wine Club Monthly: August Adventures in the Glass

August is the slow shimmer at the end of summer. The days are long, ripe, and hazy, and the wines this month reflect that rhythm — playful, refreshing, a little wild, and full of flavor. Whether you’re chasing late sunsets, cooking outdoors, or just cooling off with a chillable red, we’ve put together a lineup that brings it all together.

Here are all of our wine club picks for August wine club boxes!

We kick things off with MERSEL Leb Nat Red 2022, a pét-nat from Lebanon that captures both the earthiness of the Bekaa Valley and the freshness of wild, dark fruit. It’s a fizzy, vibrant red with hints of spice and a rustic edge that’s made for grilled lamb or salty snacks under string lights.

From the California coast, SUBJECT TO CHANGE Monster Party 2022 is a sparkling red with an untamed spirit. It bursts with juicy berries, herbal twists, and a little natural funk. Serve it ice-cold and lean into its party-ready personality and an insanely fun label.

Moving into white wines, Rosi Schuster Furmint 2022 brings a steely Austrian energy, full of citrus, green apple, and alpine mineral tension. It’s a precise, mouthwatering wine that pairs extremely well with shellfish or crunchy salads loaded with herbs.

From the volcanic soils of Burgenland, Austria, Straka Stratos White 2023 layers freshness and depth. With floral aromatics, stony minerality, and a round finish, it’s a blend that feels both classic and a little mysterious. It’s the kind of white that evolves in the glass and begs for one more sip.

A Loire classic, Stéphane Orieux Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie 2023 reminds us why Muscadet still matters. Clean and crystalline, with delicate leesy texture and a salty snap, it pairs perfectly with oysters, clams, or a breeze off the sea.

For our Skin Contact Orange wines we start off with Fuchs-Steinklammer Gemischter Satz White Jesuit 2022, an Austrian orange wine that’s all about texture and tension. Notes of citrus rind, chamomile, and dried herbs unfold over a grippy, dry frame that feels both contemplative and energizing.

From high-altitude vineyards in Lebanon, MERSEL Phoenix Rising Merwah 2022 is a skin-contact expression of the native Merwah grape. Amber in color and honeyed in tone, it offers flavors of dried apricot, oolong tea, and mountain herbs. A wine of memory and rebirth. If you haven't tried previous vintages, this is an orange ew absolutely LOVE!

Austrian producer Wenzel gives us Wolf and Sheep 2023, an orange wine with a wild heart. Expect ginger, orange peel, and a savory spice note that feels perfect with aged cheese, grilled corn, or nothing at all but a quiet evening.

For our Rosé this month we have Lichtenberger-Gonzalez Muschelkalk Rosé 2020, a structured and mineral-driven bottle that offers dusty strawberries, rose petals, and a saline finish. It’s a food wine in disguise, begging for roasted fish or charcuterie. The color on this wine is seriously gorgeous.

From California, ERDE Iceblink Luck 2022 is a rosé that feels like a breeze off the Pacific. Co-fermented white and red grapes create a delicate yet complex wine with tart fruit, herbal lift, and a soft shimmer that lingers. Pair with poetry, or just a really good playlist.

Now for reds that like a chill. Straka Stratos Red NV brings juicy berry fruit, soft earth, and alpine freshness. It’s meant to be served cool, picnic-style, with grilled sausages or roasted eggplant.

Wenzel Wild + Free Franky 2022 lives up to its name — a naturally vinified red that’s all about spontaneity and energy. Bright cherries, a little funk, and a lot of charm. Throw it in the cooler and let it loosen up your evening.

Lebanon returns with MERSEL Red Velvet 2023, a silky, floral red with sun-soaked raspberry and herbal character. It's soft, smooth, and seductive — like velvet in a bottle, but with Mediterranean spice.

Another red that can be slightly chilled, AMPLIFY Sympathy for the Strawberry 2022, a California red that wears its name well. Bursting with strawberry, wild herbs, and gentle spice, it’s playful and light, perfect served slightly chilled.

ZINIEL X PELTZER Good Intentions 1 is a collaboration from Austria that shows off juicy dark fruit, structure, and rustic complexity. It’s honest, grounded, and full of soul — a red for the campfire or the cabin.

Finally, Fuchs-Steinklammer Gemischter Satz Natural Red 2023 is a field-blend red that pulls together layers of sour cherry, wild herbs, and dry tannin. It’s rugged, earthy, and expressive — a true wine of place and process.

This month’s wines are meant for adventure, not just geography but spirit. They ask you to slow down, taste more deeply, and embrace the slightly wild beauty of late summer. Wherever August takes you, we hope these wines inspire connection, curiosity, and celebration.

Until next month — keep sipping, keep sharing, and keep exploring. And let us know what you think of this months wine selection!
