The short version: Good Clean Fun is now serving lunch Tuesday through Thursday starting at 11 AM. Italian kitchen, natural wine, Canyon Coffee, and full bar. At 868 S Olive Street, right in the heart of DTLA.
Now the longer version — because downtown LA lunch deserves a real conversation.
The Problem With Lunch in DTLA
Downtown Los Angeles has no shortage of places to eat. What it has a shortage of is places worth lingering. Most lunch options in the neighborhood fall into one of two categories: fast-casual grab-and-go, or a full sit-down dinner restaurant awkwardly open at noon with half its menu unavailable and a server who clearly wishes you'd come back at 7.
Neither of those is what we're doing.
What Lunch at GCF Actually Looks Like
We built the lunch menu around the same philosophy as everything else at Good Clean Fun: interesting, unpretentious, and made with ingredients worth caring about.
The pizzas are Roman-style, 9x6 individual pies — crispy, light, not a project to eat. Four options: Margherita ($18), Marinara ($17), Five Cheese ($19), and Spicy Pepperoni ($19). The Marinara is criminally underrated and we will die on that hill.
The sandwiches are two and they're both worth the trip on their own. The GCF Classic ($21) uses dry-aged prosciutto — the same prosciutto we serve as a standalone plate. The Veggie Stack ($18) is built for people who are tired of sad vegetarian options at lunch.
The starters are the move if you're eating with someone. Fresh burrata ($16), dry-aged prosciutto ($16), baby romaine Caesar ($18), arugula salad ($14), Torres chips and dip ($10). Mix and match and make an afternoon of it.
And yes — we have a full bar at lunch. Natural wine by the glass, beer, cocktails, and our full Canyon Coffee menu. A glass of orange wine with a burrata plate at noon on a Tuesday is, objectively, one of the better things you can do with a lunch hour in this city.
Why a Wine Bar for Lunch?
Because the best lunch spots in the world — in Rome, in Paris, in any city where people actually know how to eat — are the ones where you can have a glass of something good with your food without it being a whole thing. No judgment. No weird looks. Just good wine, good food, and a room that doesn't feel like a rush.
That's what 868 S Olive looks like at 11 AM on a Tuesday.
