Region: Bío-Bío Valley, Chile
Grapes: País (Mission)
Body: Light to Medium
Notes: Red berries, dried roses, smoky and earthy undertones, vegetal hints, mineral finish, vibrant acidity
Pairing: Grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, Indian curries, charcuterie

Hailing from the extreme, historic terroir of Chile's Bío-Bío Valley, the País Franco is a masterclass in traditional, minimal-intervention winemaking. Roberto Henríquez hand-harvests these grapes from ancient, 200-year-old País (Mission) vines planted on the black, basaltic sand banks of the Bío-Bío River. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in old Rauli wood barrels, this wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. It is a wildly aromatic, light-bodied red that is best served with a slight chill, revealing complex notes of rustic red berries, dried roses, earthy smoke, and a positively electric finish.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
