The Producer
Elvio Tintero is a historic, family-run estate located in the steep, amphitheater-like hills of Mango in the Langhe region of Piedmont. Currently operated by Marco Tintero and his family, the estate is renowned for producing exceptionally pure, sustainable, and low-intervention wines that highlight indigenous Piedmontese varieties. The Tintero family farms their high-altitude vineyards without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, focusing on biodiversity and deep root health in calcareous limestone soils. In the cellar, winemaking remains straightforward and non-interventionist: gentle pneumatic pressings, spontaneous fermentations with native yeasts, and strict temperature control in stainless steel to capture maximum aromatic purity and natural freshness.

The Wine
"Sorì Gramella" is Tintero’s prized single-vineyard Moscato d’Asti, sourced from a steeply terraced, south-facing hillside ("sorì") in Mango planted to ancient Moscato Bianco vines. Hand-harvested at optimal maturity, the fruit is gently pressed and fermented spontaneously in closed stainless steel pressurized tanks (Charmat method) until reaching roughly 5.5% alcohol, leaving natural residual sugar. The fermentation is chilled to preserve natural carbonation and delicate floral aromatics before bottling. Unlike mass-produced commercial Moscato, the 2024 vintage balances its sweet orchard fruit and honeyed floral notes with driving natural acidity and a chalky, limestone minerality that keeps the palate light, vibrant, and effortlessly drinkable.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
