Grapes: 100% Silvaner
Body: Medium
Notes: Earthy and grounding. Ripe melon, quince, fresh herbs, white pepper, and a beautifully savory, stony finish. Silvaner at its most honest and delicious.
Pairing: White asparagus, roasted root vegetables, schnitzel, smoked fish, or soft fresh cheeses.
Andi Weigand Silvaner is crafted at Bioweingut Weigand, a certified organic family estate and guesthouse in Iphofen, one of the most celebrated wine villages in Franken (Franconia) — the heartland of German Silvaner. Silvaner is Franken's soul grape: earthy, textural, and savory where Riesling is electric and aromatic, and Weigand's expression is a textbook example of why the variety is having a serious renaissance among sommeliers and natural wine lovers. The estate farms its Keuper and Muschelkalk (shell limestone) soils biodynamically, harvesting by hand and fermenting with native yeasts in traditional large oak Stückfässer (casks) before bottling without fining or filtration. The 2023 vintage in Franken yielded beautifully ripe, concentrated fruit with great structural acidity. Low-intervention, sense-of-place winemaking at its best.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
