Azienda Agricola Durante is an organic family-owned estate situated at the foot of Montello in the northern reaches of Veneto’s Treviso province. Managed by Lino Durante alongside his sons Ivano and Michele, the family works across an 18-hectare property historically known as "Le Spinée" (a name referencing prickly wild brambles that grew on ancient monastic land). Devoted to holistic agriculture, the Durante family avoids synthetic chemicals to maintain deep soil health. In the cellar, they marry modern precision with time-honored winemaking traditions—utilizing gentle handling, wild yeast fermentations, and minimal intervention to produce transparent, living sparkling wines.
The Wine
"Le Spinée" Pet-Nat (Vino Bianco Frizzante) is a playful, highly scannable organic sparkling wine crafted using the ancestral method (pétillant naturel). Co-fermenting local Glera with small proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, the fruit is direct-pressed and begins fermentation spontaneously with native yeasts in neutral tanks. Before fermentation finishes, the wine is bottled under a crown cap to naturally trap the remaining carbon dioxide, creating a soft, persistent, and fine effervescence. Left unfined, unfiltered, and resting on its lees, this NV cuvée strikes an effortless balance; it masterfully pairs bright, high-toned orchard fruit aromatics and citrus zests with a light, creamy texture and a thirst-quenching, mineral-clean finish.
