Region: Loire Valley, France (Vin de France)
Grapes: 100% Chenin Blanc
Body: Medium
Notes: Bruised honeycrisp apple, orange blossom, crystallized ginger, subtle honeyed texture, bright limestone acidity, and a light tactile, skin-contact grip
Pairing: Roasted pork belly, complex Moroccan tagines, continuous sushi spreads, aged Gouda, or simple grilled white meats

Domaine Le Facteur (meaning "The Postman") is the beautifully unconventional, low-intervention brainchild of vigneron Fabien Brutout, crafted in partnership with his mentor Mathieu Cosme. Fabien spent years apprenticing under natural winemaking icons like Sébastien Brunet before carving out his own autonomous workspace in Vouvray. Fabien operates with a "carte blanche" mentality in the cellar, working entirely with certified organic and biodynamic fruit to produce wines that mirror the raw energy of the soil. Eschewing rigid regional templates, he prefers to release his experimental batches under the liberating Vin de France classification to explore the limits of the iconic Chenin Blanc grape.

The 2022 "La Bamboche" White is actually an incredibly unique skin-contact expression that subverts traditional white winemaking rules. Hand-harvested from mature Chenin vines rooted in the classic clay and limestone matrix of the Loire, the whole grape clusters undergo an anaerobic carbonic maceration for roughly three weeks. This unusual skin contact coaxes out a light golden-amber hue, pulling texturized phenols and slight skin tannins into the juice while completely leaving heavy, angular extraction aside. Natively fermented with wild yeasts and aged inside neutral stainless steel tanks to emphasize clarity, this zero-compromise orange wine balances Chenin's hallmark laser-like acidity with a rich, complex core of dried orchard fruit and floral honey.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
