Domini del Leone is the organic and biodynamic passion project of the Fidora family, who are true pioneers of sustainable viticulture in northern Italy. While many associate Italian Pinot Grigio with mass-produced, uninspiring industrial wine, the Fidora family has been farming their estate near the Venetian lagoon without chemicals since 1974—long before it was trendy. The name "Domini del Leone" (Domains of the Lion) pays tribute to the historic Republic of Venice, whose symbol was the winged Lion of Saint Mark.
This 2024 Pinot Grigio is sourced from estate vineyards rooted in alluvial, mineral-rich soils that were shaped by ancient rivers flowing from the Alps. The vines are managed according to strict Demeter biodynamic standards, which treat the vineyard as a self-sustaining ecosystem. After a gentle, direct pressing, the juice undergoes spontaneous fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts. It avoids oak entirely to protect the grape's signature crispness. The result is a texturally clean, vibrant, and incredibly pure expression of the variety that restores the good name of Venetian Pinot Grigio, offering an electric mineral backbone born from the coastal breezes of the Adriatic.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
