The Producer
Fattoria di Romignano is an historic, family-run organic estate situated in the countryside of Terranuova Bracciolini in the province of Arezzo, along the eastern slopes of the Chianti hills. Operating with a deep respect for Tuscan viticultural traditions, the winery has championed organic farming methods to nurture indigenous vines planted on galestro and alberese-rich soils. In the cellar, their natural line embraces strict zero-zero winemaking: spontaneous fermentations driven exclusively by indigenous ambient yeasts, short to medium macerations, no oak influence, no temperature manipulation, no fining, no filtration, and zero added sulfites from harvest to bottling.

The Wine
"Gnegnero" is Fattoria di Romignano’s pure, zero-sulfite, natural expression of Chianti DOCG. Crafted entirely from hand-harvested Sangiovese, the grapes undergo spontaneous wild-yeast fermentation in stainless steel and concrete vats. Free from chemical additions and heavy oak extraction, the 2024 vintage showcases the raw, crunchy, high-toned cherry profile characteristic of unadulterated Tuscan Sangiovese. Bottled completely raw without added sulfites, fining, or filtration, it balances bright red-fruit energy and floral aromatics with a classic dusty mineral backbone and lip-smacking Tuscan acidity.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
