The Producer
Fujimaru Winery is a pioneering, highly authoritative force in the Japanese wine landscape, operating as one of the country's very first urban wineries with locations in both Osaka and Tokyo. Founded by Shusaku Fujimaru, the project was born from a desire to bring the world of grape growing and natural winemaking directly to city dwellers. Fujimaru sources pristine fruit from passionate organic growers across Japan, while also farming their own historic, steep plots in the Kashiwara area of Osaka—a region with a rich, century-long history of grape cultivation. Operating under a low-intervention framework, the winery utilizes native yeast fermentations, minimal handling, and skips heavy filtration or chemical fining to craft highly expressive, transparent wines that capture the unique meeting point of rural Japanese agriculture and urban creativity.
The Wine
The 2024 "Glou Glou Rosé" is an incredibly energetic, light-footed pink wine engineered specifically for pure, thirst-quenching enjoyment. Highlighting the winery's signature playful style, this cuvée combines the high-toned, tropical-citrus energy of pink-skinned Delaware grapes with the bright, red-fruited crunch of Muscat Bailey A. Sourced from organically tended plots, the grapes undergo a gentle pressing and a short, passive co-maceration to extract a brilliant, translucent cherry-blossom pink hue without pulling any heavy, astringent wood or grape tannins. Fermented spontaneously with native yeasts and matured briefly in neutral tanks, the wine is bottled entirely unfined and unfiltered with zero added sulfur. The 2024 vintage is beautifully vibrant and immediate; it masterfully balances an explosive bouquet of wild summer berries and citrus rinds with an electric, mouthwatering acidity and a dry, clean finish.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
