The Producer
Hirsch Vineyards is an iconic, high-altitude estate perched on the ridge lines of Fort Ross-Seaview on the extreme Sonoma Coast, founded by David Hirsch in 1980 and today led by his daughter, Jasmine Hirsch. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean just three miles away, the estate is renowned for pioneering extreme coastal viticulture in California. Farmed with strict biodynamic and organic principles across a mosaic of complex, fault-line-driven soil types, Hirsch produces singular expressions of site and grape. In the cellar, Jasmine and her team practice minimalist winemaking: spontaneous wild-yeast fermentations, low extraction, no additions or mechanical manipulations, neutral oak and stainless steel aging, and bottling with minimal sulfur.
The Wine
Hirsch’s Rosé of Pinot Noir is a limited, ultra-precise cuvée sourced from specific, cool-climate estate blocks situated directly above the Pacific fog line. The hand-harvested Pinot Noir grapes undergo a combination of direct press and short skin contact to capture a delicate salmon hue and pure aromatic lift. Fermented spontaneously using native yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve raw energy and tension, the 2024 vintage explodes with mountain-fresh red berries, sea-spray salinity, and electric coastal acidity, finishing bone-dry and impeccably structured.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
