The Producer
Jumbo Time Wines is a playful, high-energy natural wine project based in Los Angeles, co-founded by friends Omar Akpan and Colin Culliter. Born out of a garage-winemaking hobby during the pandemic, the duo quickly expanded by sourcing organically farmed grapes from cool-climate sites across Mendocino County and northern California. With an unpretentious, "wine should be fun" mindset, Jumbo Time focuses on low-intervention techniques—spontaneous native fermentations, zero additives, and no fining, filtration, or added sulfur dioxide. Their vibrant, eye-catching labels match their easy-drinking, fruit-forward style designed for immediate enjoyment and communal sharing.

The Wine
"Simply Jumbo" Orange is a vibrant, skin-contact white blend that showcases Jumbo Time's signature glou-glou, low-intervention aesthetic. Utilizing highly aromatic varieties sourced from organic Mendocino vineyards, the grapes are fermented on their skins for 10 to 14 days to draw out a glowing amber-orange hue, floral aromatics, and a subtle, textured tannic structure. Fermented naturally with wild yeasts and aged in neutral containers, the wine is bottled strictly zero-zero. It masterfully pairs an expressive nose of tropical stone fruits, citrus zest, and crushed dried flowers with a light, refreshing acidity and a bone-dry, savory finish that shines best when served slightly chilled.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
