Region: Mendocino County, California
Grapes: Carignan, Valdiguié, and/or Zinfandel (carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration)
Body: Light
Notes: Pure, juicy, and joyful. Fresh raspberry, pomegranate, crushed violet, and a whisper of black pepper with zero grip and maximum drinkability. Glou glou is French for "glug glug" — and that's exactly what happens.
Pairing: Pizza, burgers, charcuterie, grilled sausages, or any situation that calls for a second glass immediately.

Las Jaras Glou Glou Mendocino is the flagship cuvée from Las Jaras Wines, founded by Joel Burt and Eric Wareheim (yes, that Eric Wareheim) in partnership with some of California's most forward-thinking natural winemakers. The Glou Glou is a whole-cluster, carbonic maceration red in the Beaujolais nouveau tradition — built entirely for immediate pleasure, zero pretension, and maximum fun. Sourced from old-vine, organically farmed Mendocino County vineyards, the grapes undergo carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration to produce an ultra-bright, low-tannin red with vivid fruit and barely any alcohol. Bottled young and unfined, with minimal sulfur. Las Jaras has become a cult favorite in the natural wine world for making genuinely great wine without taking itself too seriously — and Glou Glou is the purest expression of that philosophy. Best served cold, straight from the fridge, with absolutely no ceremony required.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
