The Producer
Le Coste, situated in Gradoli overlooking Lake Bolsena in northern Lazio, is one of the most iconic reference points in the Italian zero-zero natural wine movement. Founded by Gianmarco Antonuzi and Clémentine Bouveron, the estate spans over 14 hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards, olive groves, and woodland planted on iron-rich volcanic soils at 450 meters elevation. In the cellar, Antonuzi and Bouveron uphold uncompromising zero-zero discipline: wild-yeast fermentations, no temperature manipulation, no fining, no filtration, and zero added sulfites.
The Wine
"Due M" Bianco stands for Macerato Moscato—Le Coste’s deep, skin-contact expression of 100% Moscato Giallo. Sourced from old, biodynamically farmed vines grown on volcanic ash and basalt soils, the hand-harvested grapes undergo a two-month maceration on their skins in open neutral wooden vats, fermented entirely with native ambient yeasts. Aged in old oak and chestnut casks before being bottled completely unfiltered, unfined, and raw, the 2022 vintage offers an extraordinary aromatic intensity—balancing explosive orange blossom and stone fruit with firm phenolic grip, electric acidity, and a distinctly salty volcanic finish.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
