Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo
Body: Full
Notes: Commanding and aromatic. Dried rose, tar, red cherry, anise, tobacco, and a long, iron-edged tannic finish with decades of development ahead. Classic Barolo from one of the Langhe's finest sites.
Pairing: Braised beef, wild game, truffle risotto, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, or anything rich enough to match its extraordinary structure.
Paolo Conterno Barolo "Riva del Bric" 2020 is sourced from 35-year-old Nebbiolo vines in calcareous clay soils from the best-exposed area of the Ginestra cru — one of Barolo's most celebrated single vineyards, with south and south-east exposure at 300–350 meters elevation. Grapes are hand-harvested near the end of October, when Nebbiolo reaches full phenolic maturity at this altitude. Fermentation and maceration run for nearly three weeks to extract the full depth of tannin and color, followed by 30–36 months of maturation in 35 hl French oak casks and an additional 6–12 months in bottle before release. Only 1,666 cases were produced. The 2020 Barolo vintage delivered outstanding concentration and balance — wines built for long aging but already showing remarkable aromatic complexity. Paolo Conterno is a benchmark name in Barolo, and "Riva del Bric" is the estate's flagship expression.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
