Region: Abruzzo, Italy (Colline Pescaresi IGT)
Grapes: 100% Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
Body: Medium
Notes: Dried apricot, ripe yellow plum, honeycomb, beeswax, wild herbs, crisp lemon rind, underlying clay-limestone minerality, clean galvanic tension
Pairing: Fritto misto di mare (fried seafood), baccalà, pasta alla chitarra with white ragù, roasted root vegetables, soft cheeses

Vini Rabasco is the soulful, uncompromising creation of Iole Rabasco, who left a corporate HR career in Rome to return to her family roots in Pianella, a small town nestled between the high peaks of the Gran Sasso mountain range and the cooling drafts of the Adriatic Sea. This exceptional microclimate means her vines remain naturally healthy and high in acidity. Iole works entirely by hand, treating her strictly chemical-free vineyards as active, living ecosystems.

The "Damigiana" Bianco is an elite, artisanal bottling sourced entirely from 40-year-old Trebbiano vines planted in the clay-and-limestone soils of the single "La Salita" vineyard site in Loreto Aprutino. The wine gets its name from the traditional 54-liter glass carboys (damigiane) used to age the juice. After undergoing a spontaneous 5-to-15-day skin-contact fermentation in open-top vats without temperature control, the wine is transferred to these small glass demijohns to settle over the winter. True to old-school peasant tradition, Iole performs exactly two rackings timed precisely with the waning moon before bottling the wine unfined, unfiltered, and with absolutely zero added sulfur. The result is a texturally rich, highly energetic amber-hued wine that perfectly bridges the gap between a textured white and a precise orange wine—vibrant, raw, and full of pure Abruzzese character.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
