Grapes: 100% Chenin Blanc
Body: Light-Medium
Tasting notes: Baked apple, acacia, honey, stone fruit, citrus, lemon zest, toasty pastry finish
Pairing: Shellfish, goat cheese, charcuterie, aperitif
Sébastien Brunet took over his family's Vouvray vineyards in 2007 and has since grown the estate to 15 hectares along the Brenne Valley, farming organically and harvesting entirely by hand. He ages all his wines deep underground in a converted 16th-century mushroom cave carved into tuffeau limestone — classic Vouvray magic. The La Rocherie is 100% Chenin Blanc from clay and flint soils, slow-pressed over 4+ hours, fermented 80% in steel and 20% in neutral barrels with indigenous yeasts, then given a second fermentation in bottle and 18 months on lees before disgorgement with 6 g/l dosage. Stone fruit and citrus on the nose give way to baked apple, acacia, and a whisper of honeyed pastry. Bright, mineral, and endlessly drinkable — real-deal Vouvray fizz at a fraction of Champagne prices.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
