The Producer
So Far Out is a playful, high-vibe natural wine project launched by Pete Stolpman of the legendary Stolpman Vineyards, situated in the Ballard Canyon AVA of Santa Barbara County, California. Known globally for their pioneering, dry-farmed estate and deep limestone soils, the Stolpman family has always pushed the boundaries of what the Central Coast can express. With So Far Out, Pete wanted to create a whimsical, hyper-accessible line of wines that celebrates pure, unadulterated fruit and ultimate crushability. Working with organically farmed vineyards across the Central Coast and utilizing low-intervention cellar practices, the project bypasses heavy oak and extraction to bottle living, energetic wines that capture the laid-back, sun-drenched spirit of California natural winemaking.
The Wine
The 2024 "So Far Out" Chillable Red is a brilliantly vibrant, light-footed red blend engineered specifically to be served cold and enjoyed immediately. Made primarily from a blend of Syrah and Grenache sourced from organic vineyards in the cool-climate pockets of the Central Coast, the grapes are treated with a short, gentle carbonic maceration. This native-yeast fermentation style locks in explosive, high-toned berry aromatics while keeping the grape tannins exceptionally soft and round. The juice is aged briefly in neutral vessels to preserve its raw primary energy before being bottled with minimal handling and a very low sulfur addition. The resulting 2024 vintage is incredibly joyful and fluid; it masterfully pairs a core of bright forest fruits and citrus peel with an electric, mouthwatering acidity and a clean, gulpable finish.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
