The Producer
Tenuta Larnianone is an historic estate situated just outside Siena on the rolling hills of the Chianti Colli Senesi sub-region. Owned and managed by the Morbidi family for generations, the 140-hectare property consists of vineyards, olive groves, and ancient oak forests. The estate approaches viticulture with deep respect for the Tuscan landscape, managing vines sustainably and organically. In the cellar, winemaking centers on classic regional traditions: native-yeast fermentations, gentle extraction, and extended aging in neutral oak casks to allow Sangiovese's natural brightness and earthy structure to express itself clearly.

The Wine
"Larniano" Riserva is the estate's top Sangiovese selection, sourced exclusively from old, low-yielding plots planted on clay-limestone and schist-rich soils. The hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous wild-yeast fermentation in temperature-controlled vats with extended skin maceration. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 24 months in neutral Slavonian oak barrels and large French oak casks followed by refinement in bottle prior to release. The 2020 vintage combines generous dark Tuscan fruit depth with savory Mediterranean herb complexity, balanced by a firm structural backbone and mouthwatering acidity.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
