The Producer
Tutti Frutti Ananas is a collaborative natural wine project created by three winemaking friends in Banyuls-sur-Mer: Manuel di Vecchi Staraz (Vinyer de la Ruca), Joachim Roque (Domaine Carterole), and Zé Tafé (La Cave des Nomades). While their individual estate wines are famously low-yielding, intense, and aged for years, Tutti Frutti Ananas (named in Catalan, Italian, and Portuguese fruit dialects) was born out of a desire to create vibrant, fresh, and immediate glou-glou wines. Farming steep, hand-terraced schist slopes near the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, they vinify all wines with zero additions, spontaneous fermentations, and no filtration.

The Wine
"Magrana" (the Catalan word for pomegranate) is a deep, energetic, direct-press rosé that blurs the line between a dark rosé and a light chillable red. Sourced from organically farmed vines rooted in the sun-drenched, maritime schist terraced hillsides of Banyuls, the grapes undergo a slow, gentle direct press over several hours to extract brilliant pomegranate hues and phenolic complexity. Fermented naturally in neutral tanks and bottled completely unfiltered zero-zero, the 2024 vintage yields an explosive bouquet of dark red berries and wild herbs backed by sea-spray salinity, mouthwatering acidity, and a crisp, mineral-laden finish.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
