The Producer
Villa Corniole is an historic family estate located in Giovo, within the dramatically terraced Val di Cembra of Trentino-Alto Adige. Managed by the Pellegrini family—with winemaking overseen by daughters Sara, Linda, and Sabina alongside their parents—the estate specializes in high-altitude alpine viticulture. Growing vines on steep porphyry and calcareous-gravel terraces reaching up to 700 meters above sea level, Villa Corniole emphasizes sustainable viticulture, hand-harvesting, and gentle cellar practices to reflect the crisp purity, intense diurnal temperature shifts, and mineral backbone of the Alpine landscape.

The Wine
"Pietramontis" (meaning "rock of the mountain") pays homage to the porphyritic stone terraces of the Val di Cembra. Sourced from hand-picked Gewürztraminer vines planted on steep, sunny, high-altitude slopes, the grapes undergo a short cold skin maceration prior to a gentle soft press to extract varietal aromatics and subtle phenolic structure without bitterness. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by extended aging on fine lees. The 2023 vintage balances intense tropical flower and exotic spice notes with remarkable alpine fresh-acidity and a dry, saline finish.

What is natural wine?

Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
