Wavy Wines is a high-vibe, modern natural wine project founded by friends Jude Zasadzki and Eliot Kessel in Los Angeles. Born out of a desire to create wildly expressive, easy-drinking, and accessible low-intervention California wines, the duo collaborates directly with organically farmed, sustainable vineyards across California. Embracing an unpretentious, food-friendly "glou-glou" aesthetic, Jude and Eliot utilize native yeast fermentations, minimal handling, and zero chemical additions. In the cellar, they avoid heavy oak extraction or heavy tannins to produce vibrant, living wines built for effortless everyday drinking and sharing with friends.
The Wine
The 2024 "Super Californian" is a playful, light-footed red blend affectionately conceived by the winemakers as a "fake reverse Super Tuscan". Flipping the classic Italian concept of blending French grapes into Sangiovese on its head, this cuvée combines classic Italian and California red varieties sourced from organically farmed sites. The hand-harvested grapes undergo a gentle whole-cluster co-fermentation and short infusion-style maceration in stainless steel to extract a glowing translucent red color while locking in popping primary fruit aromatics.
