Grapes: 85% Zinfandel, 15% Petite Sirah
Body: Full
Notes: Big, bold, and jammy. Ripe blackberry, plum, and baking spice with a velvety finish and just enough backbone to keep it honest. Backyard barbecue in a bottle.
Pairing: BBQ ribs, spicy sausage, aged cheddar, or hearty vegetarian fare like stuffed peppers.
XYZin Old Vines Zinfandel celebrates the pioneering spirit of California grape growing, sourcing from head-trained old vines in the heart of Dry Creek Valley — some ranging from 18 to 100+ years old. The 2023 vintage was picked late, just before autumn rains, yielding highly concentrated fruit. Grapes were night-harvested to preserve freshness and underwent a five-day cold soak with spontaneous fermentation over three weeks using native yeasts. The wine completed malolactic fermentation in barrel, with 20% new American oak adding richness and complexity. A splash of 15% Petite Sirah from the Rockpile AVA adds structure and amplified tannins while keeping everything composed and well-defined. Luscious, fruit-forward, and built for the table.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
