The Producer
Cantina Indigeno is an ultra-cult, low-intervention natural winery located in Abruzzo, founded by four friends—Alfredo, Nicola, Fabio, and Loreto. Operating out of the rugged, high-altitude hills near Teramo, the collective is dedicated to spontaneous, raw winemaking with minimal human interference. They source grapes from old, organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards rooted in clay and limestone soils overlooking the Adriatic Sea. In the cellar, their philosophy is strictly "zero-zero": ambient wild yeasts, long macerations, open fermentations in stainless steel, fiberglass, or amphorae, no temperature control, no chemical adjustments, no fining or filtration, and zero added sulfur.
The Wine
"Mosca" is Cantina Indigeno's wild, highly aromatic skin-contact cuvée made entirely from Moscato Bianco. Sourced from high-elevation vineyards that retain intense mountain-sea tension, the hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts on their skins for several weeks. Aged in neutral vessels on fine lees before being bottled unfiltered without added sulfites, the 2021 vintage transforms Moscato's typical floral sweetness into a completely dry, grippy, and electric orange wine. Expect exotic orange peel and stone fruit aromatics framed by driving natural acidity, fine tea-like tannins, and a refreshing, mineral-heavy finish.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
