The Producer
Du Vin aux Liens is an ultra-dynamic, low-intervention negoce project created by Vanessa Letort in Alsace. Partnering exclusively with organic and biodynamic growers across Alsace and the Loire Valley, Letort champions sustainable viticulture and artisanal winemaking. Working directly alongside small-scale growers, she manages the fermentations and aging herself, ensuring every cuvée reflects its true terroir. In the cellar, Letort adheres strictly to raw, natural practices: wild-yeast spontaneous fermentations, extended macerations for skin-contact whites, aging in neutral oak casks, and bottling completely zero-zero without fining, filtration, or added sulfites.
The Wine
"Tribute to Frida" is Letort’s vibrant, skin-macerated tribute to artist Frida Kahlo, crafted from 100% dry-farmed Sylvaner grown in Alsatian clay-limestone soils. The grapes are harvested at optimal maturity and undergo spontaneous fermentation with ambient yeasts, undergoing approximately 8 days of whole-cluster skin contact. Aged for 10 months in old oak barrels before bottling unfiltered with no added sulfur, the 2020 vintage delivers deep amber hues, complex aromatic layers of stone fruit and crushed herbs, driving natural acidity, and a firm, textured mineral grip.

What is natural wine?
Natural wine is wine made with minimal intervention from the winemaker, using organically or biodynamically grown grapes and without the addition of chemicals or additives such as sulfites. The result is a wine that is unique, expressive, and often has a more complex and nuanced flavor profile than conventional wines. Natural wine is also often associated with sustainable and ethical farming practices, making it a popular choice for those interested in environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.
